What would happen if the week before the presidential election one of the candidates were murdered?

Let’s say that the week before the Presidential Election, Obama/McCain were murdered. What would happen to the election? Would Bush remain President for an extended term? Would the VP candidate take the lead, would the runner up in the election take the lead (Clinton for example), or would the democratic or republican party have to come up with another candidate within a certain period of time?

Good question and I’ve wondered that myself. I think the party would come up with another candidate rather than having the VP candidate take the lead. Perhaps an extension to the election would be made since the new President doesn’t officially take office until January.

UK election results: Hung parliament, Tories on top, Liberals down

Posted by admin on June 6th, 2010 and filed under election | 25 Comments »

The count is nearly finished in the UK general election with the Conservative party well ahead of Labour. Despite the likelihood the Tories will get the most seats, it will fail to gain a majority, meaning there will be first hung parliament in decades. Meanwhile, an enquiry has been launched into why some voters were turned away from the ballot box.

I have a 3/4 grade class who are really into the election. What way math activity can I use during this election time?

You could teach them about pie charts. Use the results of your state and national results.

How would I go about creating an election poster of two candidates? Do you have any ideas?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under election | 1 Comment »

I have to make an election poster, stating who would be a better king : Claudius or Hamlet in the play of Hamlet. Do you have any creative ideas of how I would go about doing this, just to jog my brain. I currently have the idea of dividing a poster in two – representing the two opposing sides, with quotes from each candidate, as well as pros and cons. Would this be the appropriate way of making an election poster? Do you have any better ideas?

Check out a big poster gallery with all kinds of posters for good ideas on artskills.com. I don’t know if they have the exact poster you are looking for but they have plenty, that’s for sure. You can also get a free poster idea book download there.
Good luck!

How does an Iranian election candidate get so few votes in his home area?

Posted by admin on May 27th, 2010 and filed under election | 4 Comments »

One candidate’s number of votes was fewer than the number of campaign staff he had. Wouldn’t a candidate be assured of the votes of certain people, like his mum and his campaign staff? Surely anyone who wants to rig an election could at least take the bother to make the numbers convincing?

They didn’t even try to cover up this farcical election. The despot has done the same as Mugabe and unfortunately this could have very far reaching implications for the western world. It’s time we found new sources of oil and let creatures like him and his revolting side kicks gets the same come- uppance as the ‘rulers’ of Dubai are receiving now their bubble has burst. Sand to sand, just like clogs to clogs in three generations.

How can I become involved with the 2008 presidential election?

Posted by admin on May 23rd, 2010 and filed under election | 4 Comments »

I’m 17 years old and I will be 18 before the election, so I will be able to vote.
I want to become involved with the election some how.
I’m not going to lie, I am pretty clueless when it comes to politics, but I want to change that.
Politics have started to become appealing to me, but they are confusing.
So how can I learn more about them, and how can I become involved with the election?
Thanks!

This is a long list of meet-up groups:

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/pres/

Most of them are political groups.
Spend some time scrolling among your favorite candidates. Some may have groups going near you.
The Ron Paul groups top the list & there are 4 of them near where I live & they all communicate on the "net".
I’ve met some Great people and learned a lot about politics, the youngest member was 15, not counting little kids that came with their parents to events.
Good Luck!

Who won the presidential election that was held in the Philippines on Monday?

The TV news has not provided the details of who won the election, can anybody help with the correct answer?

At this point Aquino has the lead.

"With most votes counted in the presidential election in the Philippines, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino – the son of the former president, Corazon Aquino – has a clear lead over second-placed candidate Joseph "Erap" Estrada"
