Why do users in the politics section use spin when answering questions?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under politics | 7 Comments »

I know the media is full of spin and crap that favors one side or the other. But when I ask for a logical answer in the politics section I get alot of users who just use spin and crap in formulating an answer. I like to get answers with minimal bias but it appears many people just can’t provide a logical, down to earth, without spin type of answer. WHY???!!

Why can individuals think independently with logic without resorting to spin in the politics section?

Please provide your insight to this. Thank you for your time and answers.

Spin is easy! They don’t have to think for themselves. Just answer the questions with the predetermined stance of your affiliated party. This generation has been lulled to sleep with partisan rhetoric and have lost the ability to have their own opinions and beliefs. Let’s got to a website or watch/listen to our parties radio/tv show or blog and then I will have my answer and my plan of attack. Dare not gather information from every side and formulate a reasonable conclusion. Worse yet, don’t ever admit your wrong or don’t know enough to give an informed answer.

For the love of Pete! I understand your frustration. I try to answer questions based on the facts I can obtain and from my life experiences. Why would I want my voice crushed by the opinions of politicians who have their own personal agendas. I respect someones opinion even if it does not agree with my own but only when it’s given with respect. Reasonable debate can get heated but it does not have to get personal and hateful.

Let’s hope that eventually this country wakes up and starts thinking for themselves. First step, admit the problem exists!

What are the good reasons to not follow politics?

Posted by admin on July 10th, 2010 and filed under politics | 9 Comments »

I’m a Libertarian and my girlfriend is a neo-conservative. We almost broke up over an argument about the Iraq War. I realized afterwards what a waste of time and energy it is to argue politics, especially when the status quo sucks for almost everyone. Im 26 and I know for a fact that my generation will be making the real changes in a decade or two, so why should I lose sleep over things I cant change? Any thoughts?

Politics can be a frustrating, disappointing and uncertain pastime. By not getting involved, your opinion is not even considered.

What is the best way to learn about politics and keep up with political current events?

I don’t know much about politics currently and I would like to be able to keep up with and contribute to political conversations.

Read Ken Rudin’s blog. He is a pretty even-handed journalist. He covers a lot of detail in an understandable way.

What percentage of people answering your questions in politics are intelligent , in your opinion?

Posted by admin on July 5th, 2010 and filed under politics | 10 Comments »

Note that I do not ask about ALL answers, I only ask how you perceive answerers to YOUR OWN questions.

I would not give you my own estimate when in Y!A politics, but in science sections I think that about 80% of answerers to my questions know what they are talking about.

I think about half of them. so 50%

Is the Politics section of Yahoo Answers the most hateful section right now?

Posted by admin on July 2nd, 2010 and filed under politics | 12 Comments »

Everyday there are hundreds of new questions/opinions that seem to be designed only to insult and infuriate supporters of the opposite party. Is there another section of Yahoo Answers that is more hateful than the politics section?

Your interpretation of hate is wrong. Wouldn’t it be better interpretted as concern for America’s future?
