Suppose a Republican won next election for President, how will he deal with a Democrat Congress?

No chance of even 1 House of Congress going Republican next year. Will Republicans whine about their President "selling out"? Blame the Congress for not rubber stamping a Republican agenda?

Honestly, it just all depends on who is elected. Not all Republican presidents are dictating bullies like Bush Jr.

I couldn’t imagine Ron Paul being that way. If he were to be elected, I am sure he would try his best to work with the Democratic Congress to find a middle ground.

What are you, about 12? He’d probably deal with it the same way Reagan and Nixon did, it would hardly be new.

Probably about the same way that the current President is or past Republicans that had to deal with Democrat Congresses. As far as no chance of either house ending up controlled by the GOP look at your current Democrat Congress’s 11% approval rating.

Actually that is the best way that our political system can be set up. When the Executive and legislative branches are split it creates a better checks and balances system, and makes it so fewer laws are passed, and only the most reasonable are allowed to become law.

The same way Bush is. Pressure the Republican congressmen to tow the party line, and if all else fails, veto. There won’t be a 2/3 rds majority of Dems to override the vetoes because if a Republican wins the WH, it’s very very likely Republicans will also win seats back in Congress. That is because many people vote a straight ticket. So it will be like 2001-2006 again with a Republican President and a Republican majority, rubber stamp Congress. The best Dems would do under such circumstances would be to hold onto the same number of seats, and as we’re seeing now, that’s not enough to override the President’s veto pen or even to defeat a filibuster in the Senate.

Its a democratic congress, now what bills have they, passed they cant even get enough votes to stop the war. You would think they could do something besides bash Bush, and don’t give me the bull about Bush vetoed bills he only vetoed about 2 or 3 bills all the Dem’s have is a lot of hot air and no substance.

The most important thing to me–The next president do not shame and embarrass us (doesn’t matter Dem. or Rep.) and bring this country together again. We need Ron Paul–I do believe he can and will get the job done The so called new senate sold us out when they denied a date for our troops to come home–too much corruption on both side of the aisle…..
